Wilderness...

Sacred Pool, RIP! Such a killer spot....

Where's the next one? lol

Kauai

On my previous trip to the island, I was lucky enough to meet the Kinimaka brothers, their surf school staff, and a cool-ass chick from Australia by the name of Zoe. I briefly got to know them as I was only there for a week, but I was most definitely inspired to return for a month [July-August '08]...

By the time for my second Kauai trip, my knee was still not up for surfing or anything strenuous. So I made best of it and ate at every place on the island, took long walks, kayaked, drove around, etc.....

There are so many beautiful opportunities for photographs, it was overwhelming....

Anyways, my two favorite places to eat are the Hanalei Dolphin, and Mermaids [in Kapa'a]. The Dolphin has real good Butter Fish, but I think its a Spring catch- I couldn't find it on my second trip. The Mermaid has a really good seared Ahi burrito.... I ended up making it for all meals the whole week I was home after my trip...

Also, roadside bbq is most excellent. They cook chicken and serve it with rice and veggies. A lot of food for your money. I would not suggest going to the one in Kapa'a because they use wild chicken. The wild chicken tastes bland, like their instect/trash diet. The roadie bbq heading to Hanalei is the best one.

Another thing to consider is to make friends with a local to score some wild pig. It is ssssoooooo tastey! But be really respectful to the locals as they really don't like us 'haoles' [white people]

There are also guys selling coconuts near the Napali Coast end.

Everyone who goes to the island and likes the outdoors should really try to hike into the valley, I'm not going to say the name.

I'll update more later.... This is a long post....

An American Crime

It seems like most current American films are all pretty much the same: totally unexciting and extremely predictable. It's as though the producers and writers are running out of juicy nectar.... Or they are purely enthralled by marketing to a certain dimwit/bland group of audience. Are there not enough people with good movie taste for them to make a decent flick for the theaters anymore?!

Anyways, this movie is one of the best biographical films I have yet to see. I almost actually turned it off, because some parts were just ridiculously rechid. The flick is based on a case from Indiana of '63 where a girl is left to be watched by her neighbor while her parents chase a circus. The neighbor ends up being a psychotic power hungry mother who takes things way too far.

Get this movie.

Pandora

Pandora Radio [www.pandora.com] used to play for five consecutive hours, now it only plays for one with annoying American Idol advertising every 12 songs. This a little obnoxious, but it's still nice to have the radio at my disposal... Sighhhh...

Knee's lettin' me down!

Time finally came for a serious injury- ACL/Meniscus tear.

I didn't think it was all too serious, so I ended up popping some Advils then continued skateboarding, and eventually got a bandage from Rite Aid for support.....

I ended up flying out to Kauai the following week and while on an exploratory mission on the south end, I came to a river crossing and took off my bandage. I jumped off a ledge only to land in excruciating pain; this is when I decided I had completely messed up my knee and that it was time for the doctors to take a spin.

Wild Orchid?

I think this is a seasonal hybrid mountain flower of some sort. I found it over the summer one morning and have not seen it since.

Does anyone know what it is....?

Pardon..

For anyone who realizes these posts have been posted within minutes of each other: its not because I'm an obsessive crazed woman, more like a stupid one who deleted her blog by accident.....

154

Yes... The 154 is am amazing place, especially if one knows their way around the area...

MMM summer daze...

Pipe

It's amazing to think how a single object can have so many unique purposes....!

The tube is pretty intense, its super tight with a slight downhill tilt. One must speed check or they will end up in a mossy river mouth type thing, or end up rolling home with road rash....

Sky Diving

I'm not much of the one to celebrate holidays, but my birthday in February of 2008 seemed like the perfect excuse to book a sky diving session.

It's a little frustrating, however, that one has to book the dates about a month in advance- it is a luck of the draw to get good weather, especially in the winter!

I got lucky! The views of the sparkling ocean and wicked green farm lands were spectacular! I couldn't help but thing how cool it would be o do a surf report from a sky diving point of view...
